A prova Santana Vertical Kilometer® (SVK), começa perto da zona do Vale da Lapa a uma altitude de cerca de 780m em pleno coração da floresta Laurissilva, património mundial natural da Humanidade.
The entire course takes place within the Madeira Natural Park, in protected ecosystems that are part of the ecological network known as Natura 2000. This network aims to ensure biodiversity by conserving natural habitats, as well as wild fauna and flora, across the European Union.
The final part of the course consists of a highly technical and demanding climb that culminates at an iconic point known as Encumeada Alta (1785m) in the Central Mountain Massif. From there, participants can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the island's highest peaks.
The course spans 4.8 kilometers with 1003 meters of positive elevation gain, offering participants the chance to take in the splendid and unique views of Madeira Island and experience the beauty of nature at its finest.
